Café Calton Review — A New Edinburgh Favourite Reviews

Café Calton nestled at the summit of Calton Hill, officially opened its doors today, June 22, and we were among the first to enjoy a leisurely lunch. What a treat it was!

A View That Stuns

Perched atop the hill, the café offers sweeping, Instagram-ready panoramas—from Arthur’s Seat to Edinburgh Castle, stretching all the way to the Firth of Forth. Whether you’re seated inside or on the outside terrace, the vista adds a memorable highlight to your meal.

Food & Service — First Impressions

We dined at lunchtime, selecting small plates and light mains—think seasonal salads, delicate bagels, and freshly brewed coffee. Everything arrived promptly and was exceptionally well-prepared. It felt clear the café values both quality and efficiency. The friendly staff were attentive and warm, elevating our visit from good to excellent.

Stylish & Comfortable Setting

With seating for about 35 indoors and around 40 on the terrace, Café Calton strikes an elegant balance between neoclassical charm and contemporary comfort . It’s the kind of place where you want to linger – whether pausing after a walk or settling in for a long catch-up.
